The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.

People come to think that their struggle in America is not like it was in the 60s. Why, America is more ripe for revolution today than it was on the 60s. The people are more politically conscious; the conditions are worse! When you have falling conditions and rising consciousness you’ve got to have an explosion. Either it will be instinct which will be revolt, or either be reason and organized which will be a revolution. But you can be sure you’re going to have an explosion. We say the people’s conscious are rising more and more. Even movements that we never thought about in the 60s’ are spreading everywhere. America is more ripe for revolution today than ever before.

If you’re people are being exploited, and you refuse to lift a finger to help your people, you’re against your people and you’ve actively joined the side of the enemy. If any of you sitting here who are African have never done anything for your people, you’ve been against your people. Let that be properly understood. Clearly, the contradictory logical statement is correct: Only we will free us, and if we do not work to free us, who will work to free us? The enemy?
